About the role
Reporting to the Lead Electronics Engineer, you will design, develop, and deliver high‑reliability bed‑of‑nails test fixtures and automated test equipment (ATE) interfaces for robust, repeatable PCBA production testing. The position is based in Montréal and supports dcbel’s residential energy hardware portfolio.
Key responsibilities
- Design and develop bed‑of‑nails fixtures optimized for probe access, signal integrity, mechanical robustness and manufacturability.
- Select, integrate and implement ATE hardware, including instrumentation, switching, power and loads, according to system requirements.
- Ensure fixture reliability through proper probe selection, contact optimization, wear management and maintenance strategies.
- Create and maintain standardized fixture design templates, best practices and guidelines for scalable test lines.
- Collaborate with mechanical engineering on fixture housings, alignment mechanisms and actuation systems.
- Define and execute fixture qualification, validation and bring‑up procedures for production deployment.
- Troubleshoot and optimize fixture performance, addressing contact issues, signal integrity problems and test stability.
- Support manufacturing operations by resolving fixture‑related issues, reducing downtime and improving test yield.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering or a related field.
- 4+ years of experience in test system architecture or automated test equipment (ATE) design.
- Proven experience leading multi‑disciplinary engineering teams.
- Experience with modular platform design for manufacturing test environments.
