Machine Attendant (MA) – Election Day Support

About the role
The City of Richmond is seeking energetic individuals to serve as Machine Attendants on Election Day for the 2026 General Local and School Election. You will help ensure a smooth voting process by managing the voting equipment and assisting electors.
Key responsibilities
- Set up and dismantle voting booths, signage, and supplies.
- Assist electors with inserting ballots into the electronic vote counting unit while maintaining secrecy.
- Confirm ballot acceptance and direct electors to exit the polling location.
- Monitor messages from the vote counting unit and alert the Presiding Election Official as needed.
- Support closing procedures, including cleanup after voting ends at 8:00 p.m.
- Perform additional duties assigned by the Presiding or Alternate Presiding Election Official.
Required profile
- At least 18 years old and legally entitled to work in British Columbia.
- Available on Saturday, October 17, 2026, for the entire shift.
- Can attend mandatory in‑person training and review preparatory materials.
- Own transportation, meals, and beverages for the day.
- Able to stand for long periods.
- Not affiliated with any election campaign, candidate, or related organization.
Required skills
- Operation of an electronic vote counting unit.
