Local Truck Driver – Full‑time

About the role

We are looking for a reliable local truck driver to join our team in Lakeside, NS. The role involves transporting goods for Sysco Canada on a full‑time, permanent basis, with flexible shift options.

Key responsibilities

• Load and unload goods safely, including tarping and securing cargo.
• Operate straight and articulated trucks (Class 1/1F/A) to transport goods across the province.
• Perform pre‑trip, en‑route and post‑trip inspections, checking tires, lights, brakes and cold‑storage equipment.
• Record cargo details, hours of service, distance travelled and fuel consumption.
• Communicate with central dispatch, relay information and address customer concerns.
• Maintain vehicle condition and complete inspection, maintenance and repair reports.

Required profile

• Valid Class 1/1F/A licence with Air‑Brake (Z) endorsement.
• Clean driving record and ability to pass criminal, licence and medical checks.
• Ability to handle heavy loads (up to 23 kg) and perform repetitive tasks.
• Strong attention to detail and good interpersonal communication.
• No formal education required; experience is an asset.

Required skills

• Operating and driving straight or articulated trucks.
• Performing comprehensive vehicle inspections.
• Using on‑board trip recorder/computer systems.
• Knowledge of inspection and maintenance documentation.
