Licensed Practical Nurse – SAFER Program (0.84 FTE)

About the role

Under the supervision of the Clinical Nurse Lead and Nurse Manager, the SAFER Licensed Practical Nurse will join an interdisciplinary team to deliver participant‑centered care at the SAFER clinic in Victoria. The role focuses on harm‑reduction, trauma‑informed assessment, screening, education and support for individuals accessing safer pharmaceutical alternatives.

Key responsibilities

• Provide assessment, screening, education, referrals and advocacy for participants with poly‑substance use and complex acute/chronic health needs.
• Deliver care both independently (when appropriate) and collaboratively with the SAFER team, including medication administration and wound management.
• Develop and maintain individualized care plans, monitor progress and coordinate with community partners.
• Participate in staff meetings, trainings and community‑building activities.

Required profile

• Licensed Practical Nurse registered with BCCNM.
• 1–5 years of full‑scope nursing experience with high‑risk poly‑substance use and mental health challenges.
• Experience in supervised consumption, safer supply or other harm‑reduction programs.
• Commitment to social‑justice principles, anti‑racism, decolonization and trauma‑informed care.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Electronic Medical Records (EMR) for documentation and reporting.
• Strong clinical assessment and medication management skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
