Level 1 IT Support Specialist

About the role

BIS Safety Software is seeking a Level 1 IT Support Specialist to provide internal technical assistance to its teams. The role is based on‑site in Sherwood Park, AB and involves troubleshooting, system maintenance, and collaboration with external IT specialists to keep the company’s technology environment running smoothly.

Key responsibilities

• Configure, install, and update computers, network equipment, and peripheral devices.
• Respond promptly to support inquiries, triage tickets, and resolve issues both in‑person and remotely.
• Assist with the setup, management, and support of SharePoint, Microsoft 365, and Office 365 for all users.
• Maintain internal servers, routers, and data‑backup systems to minimise data loss.
• Participate in cybersecurity initiatives, support SOC audits, and ensure compliance with security policies.
• Document support processes, solutions, and configurations in the ticketing system.
• Track and manage all technical assets across the organisation.

Required profile

• Detail‑oriented with the ability to manage multiple tasks accurately.
• Strong problem‑solving skills and the capacity to communicate technical issues clearly.
• Self‑motivated, able to work independently while contributing effectively to a team.
• Consistently follows through on tasks and projects in a timely manner.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft tools, especially SharePoint, Office 365 and Microsoft 365.
• Experience diagnosing and resolving hardware, software, and network issues.
• Familiarity with system configuration, updates, and asset management.
• Basic understanding of data‑backup procedures and cybersecurity best practices.
