Lead Software Engineer – SDET

About the role

Mastercard’s Ethoca unit is looking for a Lead Software Engineer in Test (SDET) to drive full‑stack test automation as the platform scales. You will join a high‑performing team that builds resilient, message‑driven, distributed systems supporting global merchants and issuers.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the design, development, and maintenance of automated test frameworks for backend services.
• Collaborate with product, engineering, and operations to define quality standards and testing strategies.
• Mentor and guide a team of engineers in best practices for test automation and continuous integration.
• Evaluate, adopt, and integrate new technologies across the platform stack.
• Ensure test coverage, reliability, and performance of mission‑critical payment systems.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading test automation initiatives in large‑scale, JVM‑based environments.
• Strong problem‑solving mindset with a collaborative, customer‑focused attitude.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to influence technical direction.
