Lead Machine Learning Engineer

About the role

We are looking for a hands‑on Lead Machine Learning Engineer to own and scale our AI function. You will define technical direction, build production‑ready multi‑modal agentic systems, and mentor a growing ML team.

Key responsibilities

• Own and lead the ML/AI function end‑to‑end, setting technical direction and standards across the company.
• Architect and guide development of multi‑modal, agentic AI systems that power real‑world banking workflows.
• Define and oversee evaluation frameworks, datasets, and performance metrics to continuously improve agent quality.
• Drive productionisation of ML systems, ensuring reliability, scalability, and compliance in live environments.
• Build and mentor a high‑performing ML team, establishing best practices for modeling, experimentation, and deployment.

Required profile

• 8+ years of experience in ML/AI engineering, including time as a technical lead or manager.
• Proven track record of leading ML initiatives from problem definition to production deployment.
• Deep experience with large language models and/or agentic systems in customer‑facing applications.
• Strong understanding of ML fundamentals such as deep learning, transformers, and model evaluation.
• Experience scaling ML systems in production, including monitoring, iteration, and reliability.
• Demonstrated ability to lead engineers, influence architecture decisions, and drive technical direction.
• Comfortable operating in early‑stage, ambiguous environments with high ownership.
• Excellent communication skills to translate complex ML concepts into clear decisions.
