Lab Helper B – Part‑time Undergraduate Position

About the role

The Department of Biology (Professor Andrew Hendry) is seeking a part‑time Lab Helper B to support specimen measurement, organization, and database maintenance. This role is designed for an undergraduate student enrolled at McGill who has completed the Rapid Evolution in the Anthropocene course.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with the measurement of lab specimens, ensuring accurate data collection for research projects.
• Assist with organizing and maintaining lab specimens, keeping the collection orderly and accessible.
• Assist with maintaining lab databases, entering and updating specimen data promptly.
• Organize various supplies and equipment for the lab, ensuring resources are available when needed.

Required profile

• Currently enrolled as an undergraduate student at McGill University.
• Must have completed the "Rapid Evolution in the Anthropocene" course at the Bamfield Marine Sciences Centre.
• High School Diploma with at least one year of related experience.
• Work will be performed onsite at the Stewart Biology Building in Montreal, from 17 September to 31 December 2026, for an estimated 3 hours per week.

Required skills

• Knowledge of maintaining lab collections.
• Knowledge of measuring sticklebacks.
• Ability to maintain lab databases.
