Lab Helper B (Part-time)

About the role

We are looking for a part‑time Lab Helper B to support the Department of Microbiology and Immunology at McGill University. The role involves assisting with routine laboratory procedures in a research environment, ensuring the lab remains clean, safe, and well‑stocked.

Key responsibilities

• Perform basic laboratory tests and experiments, including PCR reactions and agarose gel electrophoresis.
• Wash and sterilize glassware, operate the autoclave, and manage biohazard waste disposal.
• Refill and organize consumables such as pipette tips and Eppendorf tubes, maintaining an up‑to‑date inventory.
• Prepare agar plates for bacterial growth and keep work areas orderly.
• Support other lab staff by following standard operating procedures and safety protocols.

Required profile

• High school diploma with at least one year of related laboratory experience.
• Preferably an undergraduate student in a biomedical sciences program at McGill.
• Authorized to work in Canada and willing to work on the Quebec campus.
• Strong attention to detail, reliable, and able to manage time effectively.
• Good communication skills and ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
