Junior Software Engineer

About the role

Join Scotiabank’s Global Payments Technology team as a Junior Software Engineer. You will contribute to modernizing payment solutions while working in an inclusive, high‑performing environment.

Key responsibilities

• Write clean, maintainable, and well‑documented code under guidance.
• Help document software features and participate in peer reviews.
• Engage in code reviews, unit testing, and debugging activities.
• Learn and apply CI/CD pipelines and cloud deployment practices.
• Follow senior team members' guidance and adhere to risk, compliance, and operational policies.
• Support a customer‑focused culture and collaborate across the bank.

Required profile

• Familiarity with at least one programming language such as Java, JavaScript, or Python.
• Basic understanding of relational (MySQL, PostgreSQL) and NoSQL (MongoDB) databases.
• Experience with RESTful APIs.
• Understanding of CI/CD concepts and version control using Git.
• Interest in cloud platforms like GCP or Azure.
• Strong problem‑solving and communication skills.
• Eagerness to learn and grow in a collaborative setting.
