About the role

The Beaufort Delta Divisional Council (BDDEC) seeks a dynamic educator to join its forward‑thinking, community‑driven team. The role focuses on delivering a competency‑based curriculum that honors Indigenous knowledge, promotes equity, and integrates land‑based learning.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with educators, Elders, and community members to design and implement a competency‑based curriculum rooted in Indigenous knowledge and values.
• Foster a learning environment that respects and incorporates diverse Indigenous perspectives.
• Implement strategies that promote equity and inclusion, addressing disparities and building a sense of belonging for all students.
• Serve as a liaison between the school and the community, gathering input and feedback to continuously improve programs.
• Develop and integrate land‑based learning opportunities, strengthening connections to the land and traditional practices.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Education.
• Eligibility for a Northwest Territories teaching certificate.
• Strong understanding of Indigenous cultures, history, and traditions.
• Experience with inquiry‑based instructional pedagogy.
• Experience implementing competency‑based curriculum and assessment.
• Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
• Understanding of Northwest Territories' Inclusive Schooling practices.
• Knowledge of land‑based education principles and practices.
