Junior Early Childhood Coordinator

About the role

The Junior Early Childhood Coordinator supports TNG Education and the Senior ECE Coordinator in strengthening early learning and child‑care services across the Tsilhqot’in Nation. Working collaboratively with community ECE programs, Aboriginal Head Start programs, families and partners, the role helps provide culturally grounded, high‑quality early learning opportunities for Tsilhqot’in children.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Senior ECE Coordinator with implementing TNG early‑learning initiatives.
• Build positive relationships with ECE and Head Start staff in Tsilhqot’in communities.
• Conduct community visits to identify early‑learning needs, priorities and resources.
• Coordinate ECE meetings, professional development sessions, training and gatherings.
• Collect and update community ELCC program information and demographics.
• Prepare reports, work plans, meeting notes, correspondence and track projects.
• Support initiatives that strengthen Tsilhqot’in language, culture, land‑based learning and traditional knowledge within early learning.
• Participate in meetings with community and external partners as required.

Required profile

• ECE certification or a strong interest in early childhood education with willingness to pursue training.
• Grade 12 diploma or equivalent (preferred).
• Experience working with children, youth, families, community programs, education or administration (asset).
• Understanding of, or willingness to learn about, Tsilhqot’in culture, language, traditions and values.
• Experience in childcare or early‑learning environments.
• Excellent communication, organization and conflict‑resolution abilities; reliable and punctual.
