Junior Developer

About the role

Scotiabank is looking for a Junior Developer to join its Global Payments Technology team in Canada. You will work on modernizing payment platforms, building cloud‑native services, and supporting a customer‑focused culture.

Key responsibilities

• Build scalable micro‑frontends (MFEs) using ReactJS and backend‑for‑frontends (BFFs) with NodeJS.
• Develop backend APIs with the Spring Boot stack.
• Write clean, maintainable, and well‑documented code with minimal guidance.
• Participate in code reviews, unit testing, debugging, and CI/CD pipeline implementation.
• Contribute to design decisions, propose improvements, and deploy/monitor services on GCP and Azure.
• Follow senior guidance, adhere to risk, compliance, and operational controls.

Required profile

• Working knowledge of ReactJS and NodeJS for frontend development.
• Working knowledge of Spring Boot for backend services.
• Strong understanding of software development best practices, testing, and debugging.
• Familiarity with CI/CD processes, Git version control, and Agile methodologies.
• Experience with cloud platforms such as Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and Microsoft Azure.
• Strong problem‑solving and communication skills, eager to learn in a collaborative environment.
