Junior Buyer – Procurement for Major Projects

About the role

Join Glencore Canada’s Legacy Sites team as a Junior Buyer, supporting major mining and reclamation projects across North America. Reporting to the Senior Buyer, you will help source materials and services while ensuring compliance with internal controls and delivering value to internal customers.

Key responsibilities

• Manage strategic tender processes, including scope of work preparation, tender strategy, negotiations, and bid evaluation.
• Assist in contract formation and negotiations with suppliers and community stakeholders.
• Collaborate with engineers and technical users to translate operational needs into clear scopes of work.
• Apply innovative contractual approaches such as EPC/EPCM and self‑construction.
• Maintain accurate documentation, filing, and adherence to HSEC and fairness guidelines.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in commerce or economics with a SCMP designation (or equivalent).
• 4‑5 years of purchasing experience on major projects, preferably in mining or reclamation.
• Strong ability to understand and negotiate complex financial and legal terms.
• Excellent time‑management, prioritisation, and remote‑team collaboration skills.
• Valid driver’s licence and willingness to travel 5‑10% within North America.

Required skills

• Proficiency with procurement systems such as Coupa, SAP, or Ellipse.
