Junior Building Operator

About the role

We are looking for a motivated Junior Building Operator to join our Commercial Property Services team. The role involves maintaining the building’s functionality, supporting tenants, and ensuring a safe, clean environment across our portfolio.

Key responsibilities

• Perform daily litter pick‑up, snow removal and garbage collection for parking areas.
• Carry out basic repairs and maintenance including plaster, drywall, paint, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, ceiling and tile replacement.
• Address minor plumbing and electrical issues, install light fixtures, outlets and switches.
• Oversee and supervise contractors for both contracted and ad‑hoc work.
• Create, update and close work orders in the MRI Angus system promptly.
• Monitor and maintain building equipment such as pumps, fans, boilers, chillers and motors as part of a preventative maintenance program.
• Conduct daily fire safety system checks and monthly testing of elevators and fire‑life safety equipment.
• Assist with tenant move‑ins and move‑outs, key management, signage, and interior space requirements.
• Participate in regular interior and exterior inspections, recommend improvements and support tenant appreciation events.
• Provide 24/7 on‑call support for after‑hours emergencies.

Required profile

• Valid Ontario driver’s licence.
• Team‑oriented with a safety‑first mindset.
• Can‑do attitude and willingness to respond quickly to tenant needs.

Required skills

• HVAC operation and basic troubleshooting.
• Plumbing repair and maintenance.
• Electrical work including fixture installation.
• Carpentry and general building repairs.
• Basic preventative maintenance of building equipment.
