Junior Backend Engineer (Machine Learning Focus)

About the role

DataSpeckle is looking for a motivated Junior Backend Engineer to join its AI‑driven healthcare chatbot platform. You will work closely with machine‑learning engineers to build backend services that extract, filter and report on clinical data, supporting the Effie product suite.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with ML engineers to design backend pipelines for data extraction and manipulation.
• Design and maintain PostgreSQL database schemas for efficient storage and retrieval.
• Integrate backend APIs with frontend interfaces developed by UI engineers.
• Implement search functionality using Elasticsearch to locate relevant records.
• Develop filtering logic and generate PDF reports from processed data using Python.
• Ensure backend systems are secure, scalable and performant.
• Participate in code reviews and contribute to best‑practice guidelines.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field.
• Strong problem‑solving abilities and attention to detail.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a cross‑functional team.
• Enthusiasm for learning new technologies, especially in machine‑learning contexts.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Python programming.
• Experience with PostgreSQL database management.
• Familiarity with Elasticsearch or similar search engines.
• Knowledge of PDF generation libraries in Python is a plus.
