IT Technician

About the role

The Art Gallery of Ontario is seeking an IT Technician to join its Information Technology team. Working on‑site in a vibrant museum environment, you will provide technical support to staff and visitors, ensuring all computer systems and peripheral devices operate smoothly.

Key responsibilities

• Troubleshoot hardware, software, email, network and peripheral issues and coordinate with third‑party vendors when needed.
• Install, assemble and configure computers, monitors, printers, scanners, mobile devices and network cabling.
• Install, configure and upgrade operating systems and business applications, maintaining accurate documentation of system configurations.
• Assist in the design, deployment and enhancement of new technologies and projects.
• Provide secondary support for specialized systems as required.

Required profile

• Minimum three years of progressive IT support experience or an equivalent mix of training and experience.
• Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast‑paced environment.
• Commitment to the AGO values of respect, openness, collaboration and accountability.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Windows, macOS, iOS and Android platforms.
• Experience with Microsoft Windows Server (2016+), Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP and Exchange (2016+).
• Knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite (including Office for Mac).
• Solid understanding of TCP/IP networking and hardware configuration.
• Relevant certifications such as MCP or MCSE are highly desirable.
