Internal Auditor

About the role

The Internal Auditor will join Valero Energy’s Internal Audit Department to help protect corporate assets, improve processes, and ensure the reliability of financial information. Reporting to the Supervisor, Internal Audit, you will evaluate financial and operational controls across the company’s business areas.

Key responsibilities

• Participate in audit planning, including client interviews, process mapping, and risk identification.
• Assess design and operating effectiveness of controls and document findings.
• Identify opportunities for control enhancements, efficiency gains, and cost savings.
• Perform follow‑up testing and SOX compliance testing.
• Apply analytical procedures to detect potential financial exposure.
• Support technology integration in audit projects to increase efficiency.
• Prepare written audit reports summarizing results and recommendations.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
• CPA designation or in progress (or equivalent qualification such as CIA or CISA).
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience in auditing or internal controls.
• Bilingual French/English.
• Strong teamwork, communication, and self‑direction.
• Ability to meet tight deadlines in a fast‑paced environment and travel as needed.
