Intern Researcher – LLMs Agentic AI & Reinforcement Learning

About the role

Huawei Canada’s Noah’s Ark Lab is seeking an intern researcher to advance AI agents powered by large language models. The role focuses on autonomous reasoning, planning, and task execution, bridging cutting‑edge research with real‑world applications.

Key responsibilities

• Research and develop next‑generation AI agents that use LLMs for autonomous reasoning, planning, and task execution.
• Prototype and evaluate core capabilities such as memory, tool use, self‑reflection, retrieval, and long‑horizon decision‑making.
• Build and experiment with multi‑agent systems for collaboration and complex problem solving.
• Integrate AI agents with external tools, APIs, and real‑world environments to enable intelligent automation workflows.
• Explore emerging directions in reasoning‑enhanced LLMs, agent alignment, world models, and embodied intelligence.

Required profile

• Currently pursuing a Master’s or PhD in Computer Science, AI, Machine Learning, Robotics, or related fields.
• Strong background in large language models, AI agents, reinforcement learning, or decision‑making systems.
• Proven research record with at least one first‑author paper in top‑tier venues (e.g., NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR).
• Hands‑on experience building research prototypes and running experiments independently.

Required skills

• Python programming.
• PyTorch deep‑learning framework.
• Modern machine‑learning research workflows.
