Intermediate Technical Animator

About the role

The Intermediate Technical Animator works closely with the animation team to refine character rigs and ensure they function optimally for animators. You will troubleshoot technical issues across animation, assets, and rigging, and contribute to tool and pipeline improvements. The role requires a solid grasp of Maya constraints, deformers, and a proactive approach to staying current with industry trends.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with animators to implement and fine‑tune character rigs for maximum efficiency.
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical problems related to animation, assets, and rigging, working with other departments as needed.
• Develop and enhance animation tools and pipelines to boost production quality and speed.
• Perform topology, weight painting, and caching tasks across multiple departments, demonstrating versatility.
• Apply critical thinking to independently solve complex animation challenges.

Required profile

• 1–2 years of professional experience in technical animation.
• Strong demo reel that showcases intermediate animation and modeling abilities.
• Experience with Maya nDynamics, including nCloth setups for various scenarios.
• Comfortable working with ICON’s rig systems and cross‑departmental pipelines.
