About the role
Black & McDonald’s Southern Ontario Utilities team is expanding and seeks an independent, enthusiastic professional to join as an Intermediate Project Coordinator for overhead line projects. The role is based on‑site and reports directly to the Project Manager, supporting projects from planning through close‑out.
Key responsibilities
- Assist the Project Manager in ensuring project objectives, policies, procedures and performance standards align with company and contract specifications.
- Prepare and submit field reports and monthly invoices to clients on schedule.
- Develop and monitor construction schedules, milestones and progress against timelines.
- Perform quantity take‑offs from construction drawings, track as‑built quantities and verify on‑site.
- Support contract preparation, negotiation of revisions and changes with clients, suppliers and subcontractors.
- Track project costs, forecast budgets, analyse changes and their financial impact.
- Implement quality‑control programs and maintain customer and vendor relationships.
- Coordinate trades, manage document control and procure required supplies and materials.
Required profile
- Degree or Diploma in Construction Management, Electrical Engineering Technology, or Electrical Engineering.
- 3‑5 years of project coordination experience on utility construction projects, preferably overhead or underground electrical distribution.
Required skills
- Contract management and administration.
- Construction scheduling, planning and execution.
- Interpretation of electrical, civil and construction drawings and specifications.
- Understanding of financial reports, budgets, forecasts and cost‑tracking metrics.
- Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Project).
- Experience with JD Edwards or an Oracle‑based ERP system.
