About the role
Parsons is seeking an experienced Indigenous Relations Lead to provide strategic guidance and practical support to planning, environmental, engineering, construction and business‑development teams across British Columbia. The role focuses on building and sustaining respectful, long‑term relationships with Indigenous Nations, communities, governments and organizations while enabling successful delivery of infrastructure projects.
Key responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate culturally appropriate engagement, consultation and accommodation strategies for projects of varying size and complexity.
- Provide senior advisory support on the Duty to Consult, Indigenous rights, knowledge, cultural protocols and relationship‑building approaches.
- Identify potentially affected Indigenous Nations and advise on appropriate engagement pathways.
- Facilitate meetings, workshops and issue‑resolution discussions with Indigenous communities, clients, regulators and project teams.
- Negotiate, implement and track project‑related commitments, capacity‑funding arrangements, agreements and participation opportunities.
- Prepare briefing notes, executive summaries, consultation records and recommendations for senior leadership.
- Support business development by contributing Indigenous Relations content to proposals, RFQs, RFPs and client presentations.
- Provide functional leadership, mentorship and performance management to Indigenous Relations practitioners in British Columbia.
Required profile
- Extensive experience in Indigenous engagement, consultation, accommodation planning and relationship management for small to large infrastructure projects.
- Proven ability to serve as a senior advisor and client‑facing lead, guiding teams through consultation requirements and culturally appropriate strategies.
- Demonstrated skill in building trusted, long‑term relationships with Indigenous communities, governments and business partners.
- Experience delivering Indigenous Relations scopes, including risk identification, mitigation planning and documentation of commitments.
