Income Assistant Coordinator – Social Assistance Support

About the role

The Income Assistant Coordinator supports members of the Seabird Island Band community by processing Social Assistance applications, assessing needs, and connecting clients with resources to improve their quality of life.

Key responsibilities

• Receive and review social assistance applications, ensuring documentation complies with ISC policies.
• Assess client needs, eligibility for programs such as Special Needs, COPH, and food bank, and provide referrals.
• Teach workshops on budgeting, utilities, rent, and household needs.
• Maintain accurate client records, filing systems, and monthly activity reports.
• Prepare repayment agreements, track rent and utility payments, and submit budget sheets to finance.

Required profile

• Social Services Worker diploma or related background.
• Minimum three years of experience in financial or social development roles.
• Valid BC Class 5 driver’s licence and clean driving abstract.
• Criminal record check satisfactory for vulnerable sector.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Computer literacy in data‑management programs.
• Knowledge of basic budgeting and accounting principles.
