Ice Operations Supervisor

About the role

Canlan Sports is seeking an Ice Operations Supervisor to oversee day‑to‑day plant and ice‑surface operations at its Scarborough, ON facility. Reporting to the Operations/General Manager, you will manage staff, maintain equipment, and ensure a safe, high‑quality ice environment.

Key responsibilities

• Perform ice maintenance tasks such as Engo operation, edging, depth measurement, chopping, leveling, and painting.
• Execute minor repairs on electrical, plumbing, drywall, dasher boards, arena glass, and hockey nets.
• Maintain the ice plant: monitor oil, brine, glycol levels, test for ammonia leaks, record temperature and pressure readings.
• Keep grounds, entrances, and parking areas clean and safe, including snow removal, grass cutting, and re‑lamps.
• Conduct routine checks and maintenance on ice‑resurfacing equipment (blade changes, greasing, safety inspections).

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent (preferred).
• Valid driver’s licence.
• 1‑3 years experience operating ice‑resurfacing equipment.
• Willingness to work flexible evenings and weekends.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to perform basic electrical/plumbing repairs.

Required skills

• Operation of ice‑resurfacing equipment (e.g., Engo).
• Proficiency with Ameresco Asset Planner software.
• Mechanical maintenance of HVAC, condenser fans, and related equipment.
• Minor electrical, plumbing, and drywall repair skills.
