HVAC Installation Technician – Ottawa

About the role

Black & McDonald is expanding its Service team in Ottawa and seeks an experienced HVAC Installation Technician. You will work closely with project managers, trades, subcontractors, consultants and clients to ensure successful project delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Install, commission and troubleshoot a wide range of HVAC equipment including unit heaters, furnaces, rooftop units, MUA, AHU, ductless, VRF, split systems and boilers.
• Perform refrigeration piping installations following TSSA brazing requirements and install various piping designs for chillers, boilers, hydronic coils, fan assemblies and heat exchangers.
• Complete control wiring per manufacturer specifications, conduct equipment start‑ups, system balancing, functional testing and client training.
• Maintain clean, organized work sites and build professional relationships with clients, consultants and sub‑trades.

Required profile

• 5+ years of experience in installation, servicing and troubleshooting diverse HVAC equipment.
• 313A Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Mechanic License, G1 Gas Technician Certificate (TSSA), ODP Ozone Depletion License and additional certifications (e.g., 636 Venting, TSSA Brazing).
• Strong communication skills, customer focus, ability to work independently and attention to detail.
