Human Resources Assistant – School of Population and Public Health

About the role
The Human Resources Assistant supports HR functions for the School of Population and Public Health at the University of British Columbia. The role involves coordinating recruitment, hiring, and appointment processes for staff, students, postdoctoral fellows, and research associates.
Key responsibilities
- Provide information to faculty and staff on UBC HR policies, attendance, leave, and benefits.
- Advise on collective agreement terms and HR procedures.
- Manage recruitment, hiring, and appointment/reappointment processes for various employee groups.
- Perform administrative clerical tasks related to HR management for faculty, staff, and students.
- Liaise regularly with central HR, Integrated Service Centre, Financial Services, and the Faculty of Medicine Dean’s Office.
Required profile
- Experience in university or public sector HR administration.
- Strong knowledge of HR policies, collective agreements, and employment equity principles.
- Excellent communication skills for interacting with faculty, staff, students, and external partners.
- Ability to manage multiple HR processes simultaneously.
Required skills
- Familiarity with HR information systems and administrative software.
- Understanding of recruitment and onboarding procedures.
