HR Business Partner – Employee & Labour Relations (12‑month contract)

About the role
The Royal Ontario Museum is seeking a Specialist/HR Business Partner to provide expert guidance on employee and labour relations within a unionized environment. Reporting to the AVP of Human Resources, you will act as a trusted advisor to leaders and staff, helping to create a respectful, inclusive, and high‑performing workplace.
Key responsibilities
- Advise managers and employees on complex employee‑ and labour‑relations issues, ensuring compliance with legislation and collective agreements.
- Partner with leaders to proactively resolve workplace conflicts and manage case files.
- Interpret employment laws, collective agreements, and internal policies to mitigate risk.
- Coordinate Labour Management meetings and support collective bargaining processes.
- Develop and deliver training, resources, and communications to strengthen organisational capability.
Required profile
- Experienced HR professional with a strong background in employee and labour relations.
- Demonstrated ability to build trusted relationships and provide sound, empathetic advice.
- Excellent judgment and problem‑solving skills in a unionized setting.
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive and respectful workplace culture.
