Heavy-Duty Equipment Mechanic

About the role

We are looking for a Heavy‑Duty Equipment Mechanic to maintain and repair heavy trucks, hydraulic attachments and related machinery used in surface mines and quarries. The role involves troubleshooting, diagnosing and restoring equipment to meet manufacturers’ specifications while supporting on‑site operations.

Key responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and inspect heavy‑duty equipment to identify faults and malfunctions.
• Diagnose issues using computerized testing equipment and determine required repairs.
• Order parts, maintain inventory and keep detailed maintenance reports.
• Adjust, repair or replace defective components, including engines, hydraulic systems, power take‑offs and emission control units.
• Test repaired equipment to verify proper performance and compliance with specifications.
• Perform routine cleaning, lubrication and general maintenance on trucks, attachments, compressors and other tools.

Required profile

• Physically demanding work; ability to bend, crouch, kneel, lift heavy loads and stand for long periods.
• Accurate, dependable, good judgement and a strong team player.
• Must meet language requirements (English or French) and hold a valid driver’s licence.
• Willingness to travel regularly; travel expenses covered by employer.

Required skills

• Diesel engine repair and engine control system diagnostics.
• Hydraulic system maintenance, including transmissions and hydraulic‑operated attachments.
• Power take‑off and compressor servicing.
• Emission control system verification and repair.
• Heavy‑truck and off‑road vehicle tire, wheel and brake system service.
