Hardscape Crew Leader

About the role

We are seeking a Hardscape Crew Leader to oversee landscape enhancement and hardscape projects in Ottawa. This hands‑on supervisory role combines technical expertise, project coordination, and team development to deliver high‑quality outdoor spaces.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and supervise a crew of 4–5 members on enhancement and hardscape projects.
• Operate heavy equipment such as mini excavators, skid steers, and loaders.
• Plan daily work activities, manage crew schedules, and coordinate materials, equipment, and site logistics.
• Ensure projects are completed safely, on time, and within budget while maintaining documentation (JSAs, Toolbox Talks, daily logs).
• Maintain tools, equipment, and job‑site safety standards.
• Troubleshoot field challenges, resolve issues, and ensure compliance with design specifications and zoning requirements.
• Train, mentor, and support new and returning team members.
• Communicate progress, safety concerns, and operational updates to management.
• Support winter operations and seasonal duties during the off‑season.
• Occasionally address technology issues related to work‑order and safety software.

Required profile

• 2–3 years of landscaping, enhancement, or property‑maintenance experience.
• Minimum 1 year of crew leadership or supervisory experience.
• Valid driver’s licence with a clean abstract.
• Ability to lift up to 70 lb and work outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Strong communication, leadership, and organizational abilities.
