GIS Analyst (2 Vacancies)

About the role

The City of Hamilton is seeking two GIS Analysts to support its Spatial Solutions team. The role involves managing, analysing, and disseminating geographic data to aid internal decision‑making and public Open Data services.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare, maintain, and update digital maps and GIS databases, including ArcSDE and enterprise geodatabases.
• Create custom maps, interactive web maps, and hard‑copy products for internal and public use.
• Develop Python and FME scripts, custom user interfaces, and GIS applications using vendor tools.
• Perform quality assurance/quality control to ensure data integrity and maintain metadata.
• Collaborate on Open Data portal standards, data publication, and technical evaluation committees.
• Provide GIS and Open Data user support, training, and documentation across city departments.

Required profile

• University degree or college diploma in GIS, Geography, Engineering, Urban Planning, Computer Science, or related field.
• Progressive experience in municipal GIS, spatial database design, and user support, preferably with Esri products.
• Demonstrated ability to translate business needs into GIS solutions and to produce analytical reports.
