General Duty Nurse – Child Health (CH4 Medicine)

About the role

The Registered Nurse will provide professional nursing care for children with complex and unpredictable health needs in the CH4 Medicine unit at the Health Sciences Centre. Working under the general supervision of the Manager of Health Services, the RN will deliver independent nursing services, administer prescribed treatments, and lead the healthcare team to ensure safe patient discharge.

Key responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care to pediatric patients with complex conditions.
• Administer prescribed medical treatments and medications safely.
• Lead and coordinate the multidisciplinary healthcare team.
• Facilitate patient care planning, documentation, and discharge processes.
• Maintain compliance with all relevant policies, procedures, and legislative acts.

Required profile

• Graduate of an approved Registered Nursing program.
• Current registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba.
• Pediatric experience preferred, especially recent experience in pediatric medicine.
• satisfactory employment record.
• Active participation in professional nursing associations is an asset.

Required skills

• PALS certification (preferred).
• Current CPR training in accordance with employer policy.
