Funeral Director

About the role

Jump Recruitment Specialists is recruiting, on behalf of one of Newfoundland and Labrador's largest funeral service providers, a full-time, permanent Funeral Director based in St. John's. The role provides compassionate care and guidance to families, helping them make informed decisions and coordinating funeral and memorial services with dignity and respect.

Key responsibilities

• Meet families for preplanning and prefunding, maintaining confidentiality
• Plan and coordinate funerals for families needing immediate care, working professionally with the general public
• Prepare remains through embalming for traditional and short-term viewing
• Perform cremation procedures
• Set up and clean the reposing room, chapel and reception areas
• Conduct funeral services in the chapel and churches and committal services
• Work a shift schedule including weekends and nights, and be on call; the work is physically demanding, involving long periods standing and lifting

Required profile

• Funeral Director's and Embalmer's license
• Valid Newfoundland and Labrador driver's license
• Ability to multitask, prioritize, solve problems and work as a team player
• Professional appearance and attitude, able to balance service with demanding workloads
• Higher-than-average office, computer and organizational skills with attention to detail
