Frontend/UI Developer

About the role

We are looking for a Frontend/UI Developer to join the Larus team in Ottawa. You will design and build interactive, data‑dense interfaces that support military planners and decision‑makers, including maps with NATO symbology, AI‑powered workflows, and collaborative scenario tools.

Key responsibilities

• Gather requirements from defence and military subject‑matter experts and translate them into user‑friendly flows.
• Architect and develop complex React/TypeScript applications, including geospatial interfaces, rich‑text/code editors and AI‑integrated workflows.
• Design and maintain frontend state using modern patterns (Zustand, Redux Toolkit, TanStack Query).
• Extend a custom design system built on headless UI primitives, scoped styling and design tokens.
• Plan and conduct usability studies, A/B tests and surveys to iterate on designs.
• Write unit, integration and end‑to‑end tests and participate in code reviews.
• Present demos to stakeholders and collaborate with backend engineers, data scientists and product managers in an agile environment.

Required profile

• University degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Eligibility for Canadian Government security clearance (citizenship or permanent residency required).
• Minimum 2 years of professional frontend development experience.
• Strong proficiency with React and TypeScript.
• Experience with modern state‑management libraries (Zustand, Redux Toolkit) and server‑state tools (TanStack Query).

What we offer

• Competitive salary range $80,000‑$95,000 CAD per year.
• Hybrid work model: up to 3 days onsite in Ottawa, remote otherwise.
