Front End Clerk – Part‑Time

About the role

Join Food Basics as a Front End Clerk and be the welcoming face for customers in a busy grocery environment. This permanent, part‑time position offers flexible days, evenings and weekend shifts, allowing you to contribute to a vibrant community while developing retail experience.

Key responsibilities

• Greet customers warmly and assist them in locating products.
• Handle inquiries, resolve complaints and provide information on promotions.
• Scan items accurately and process all forms of payment, including cash, cards and gift cards.
• Manage returns, issue receipts and give correct change.
• Maintain an accurate cash drawer, perform cash drops and balance the register at shift end.
• Keep the checkout area clean, organized and safe.
• Report spills, hazards or equipment issues to management promptly.
• Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth store operations.

Required profile

• Customer‑service oriented with strong communication abilities.
• Ability to stand for extended periods and work flexible schedules, including nights, weekends and holidays.
• High attention to detail and basic numeracy skills.
• Retail experience is an asset but not mandatory.

Required skills

• Basic computer and register operation skills.
