French Immersion Teacher (Applicant Pool)

About the role

The York Catholic District School Board is recruiting French Immersion teachers for the 2019-2020 school year. The program is offered across several schools in different grade ranges, and the posting is open to an applicant pool.

Key responsibilities

• Teach the French Immersion program in a Catholic educational context.
• Deliver Grades 1-3 with about 85% of instructional time in French.
• Deliver Grades 4-8 with about 50% of instructional time in French.

Required profile

• FSL Part 1 and/or other French qualifications recorded on the Ontario College of Teachers certificate.
• High degree of oral and written proficiency in French.
• Primary and/or Junior and/or Intermediate division qualifications.
• Desired: experience teaching in the Primary, Junior and/or Intermediate divisions.
• Desired: FSL Part 2 or Specialist, knowledge of Balanced Literacy and numeracy practices, and excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Required skills

• Training in the Accelerated Integrated Method (AIM/Gestures) is desired.
• Knowledge of Balanced Literacy and numeracy practices is desired.

Daily rates are $280.41 for unqualified applicants and $289.19-$619.73 for qualified teachers, depending on placement on the salary grid; rates are per full day worked. Successful candidates will need a Vulnerable Sector Check or Criminal Record and Judicial Matters Check issued within the last six months.
