Fire Alarm Technician – Full-Time in Victoria

About the role

Community Fire Prevention Ltd, a division of Onyx‑Fire, is seeking full‑time Fire Alarm Technicians to join its growing Victoria team. You will lead inspections, maintenance, repairs and service calls on fire and life‑safety equipment while mentoring junior technicians.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct monthly, quarterly, semi‑annual and annual fire inspections in accordance with the 2018 BC Fire Code and applicable CAN/ULC, NFPA and CSA standards.
• Perform repairs, troubleshooting and documentation of fire and life‑safety equipment.
• Complete electronic inspection and deficiency reports promptly.
• Participate in after‑hours emergency on‑call rotation.
• Maintain communication with internal and external contacts regarding inspections and project status.
• Mentor and coach junior fire‑prevention technicians.
• Stay current with industry standards, product changes and best practices.
• Uphold company core values and occupational health and safety protocols.

Required skills

• ASTTBC RFPT or CFAA certification (considered an asset).
• Valid BC driver’s licence (drivers abstract required).
• Strong electrical, electronics and mechanical background.
• Ability to assess and troubleshoot a variety of life‑safety systems.
• Knowledge of the 2018 BC Fire Code, CAN/ULC, NFPA and CSA standards.
