Financial Controller

About the role

The Financial Controller will lead the finance function for a leading distributor of telecommunications and technology hardware equipment in Canada. Reporting to senior leadership, you will ensure accurate financial reporting, compliance, and provide strategic insights to support business growth.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee financial reporting and ensure compliance with provincial and federal regulations.
• Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
• Manage cash flow, treasury operations, and internal controls.
• Support audits and liaise with external auditors.
• Provide financial insights for strategic planning and drive process improvements.
• Record daily transactions, maintain the general ledger, and reconcile accounts.
• Manage accounts payable and receivable, process invoices, payments, and receipts.
• Reconcile bank and credit‑card statements and assist with payroll processing and tax filings.
• Support month‑end and year‑end closing procedures.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field.
• Fluent in both French and English (written and spoken).
• Minimum 10 years of progressive accounting and financial management experience.
• Experience working independently in a small‑business environment.
• Strong analytical, organizational and problem‑solving abilities with high attention to detail.

Required skills

• Advanced proficiency in QuickBooks (primary accounting software).
• Experience with Sage or other accounting platforms (asset).
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills for financial analysis and data management.
