Finance Co-op Student

About the role

Johnson Electric is hiring a full-time, day-shift Finance Co-op Student in Mississauga, Ontario, working onsite. The student supports key financial operations such as financial analysis, reporting, budgeting and costing, working closely with experienced finance professionals. The position suits students or recent graduates wanting practical experience in corporate finance.

Key responsibilities

• Enter financial data, record transactions and maintain financial records in accounting software or spreadsheets
• Help prepare financial reports, statements and presentations for internal and external stakeholders
• Perform variance, trend and ratio analysis to assess financial performance
• Support budgeting and forecasting by gathering data, updating models and preparing reports for budget meetings
• Maintain and update standard costing information, including the annual standard cost roll
• Support inventory counts, reconciliations and analysis of inventory or costing variances
• Handle day-to-day finance operations and collaborate with other departments
• Contribute to improving financial processes and keep financial information confidential

Required profile

• Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance, Mathematics, Computer Science or a related field
• Basic understanding of accounting and financial principles; interest in cost accounting and manufacturing finance is an asset
• Strong analytical, numerical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
• Good knowledge of Power BI is a plus
• Ability to interact with management, plant personnel, auditors and finance staff in other divisions

Required skills

• Good Excel skills and comfort with spreadsheets and data analysis
• Self-motivated, organized and quick learner
