Field Service Technician

About the role

RFNOW Inc. is expanding its fiber internet network across Southern Manitoba and Saskatchewan and is looking for motivated individuals to join the team as Field Service Technicians. You will work on installing, terminating, and testing fiber optic infrastructure for residential and commercial customers, ensuring reliable connectivity.

Key responsibilities

• Install, terminate, and test fiber optic cables in homes and businesses.
• Install media converters, ONTs, switches, and routers.
• Use OTDR, OFI, and light meters for accurate fiber testing.
• Run and terminate CAT5/6 wiring safely and professionally.
• Interact courteously with clients and support staff.
• Travel to various sites, including occasional short overnight assignments.

Required profile

• Experience as a telecom installer or related field is an asset.
• Ability to work independently and follow strict safety protocols.
• Valid driver’s licence with a clean abstract.
• Successful vulnerable sector check.
• Willingness to work in all weather conditions and travel across the region.

Required skills

• Fiber optic cable installation and termination.
• Fiber optic testing using OTDR, OFI, and light meters.
• Installation of media converters, ONTs, switches, and routers.
• CAT5/6 wiring installation.
• Basic networking setup and wireless router configuration.
• Troubleshooting of telecom equipment.
