Family Service Team Leader

About the role

Scw’exmx Child and Family Services Society is seeking a culturally grounded, people‑focused leader to serve as the Family Service Team Leader. Reporting to the Child Safety Manager, the role provides day‑to‑day leadership, supervision and practice guidance to the Family Services team delivering child safety and family services under delegated authority.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, coach and supervise Family Service Social Workers and Case Aides, ensuring practice aligns with the Child, Family and Community Service Act and MCFD policies.
• Support staff in safety and risk assessments, mitigation planning and escalation of high‑risk matters.
• Monitor caseload distribution, service timelines and workload pressures to maintain safe and sustainable practice.
• Provide daily case consultation, problem‑solving and culturally grounded, family‑centred guidance.
• Coordinate transitions between Intake and Family Services and collaborate with Prevention Team Leaders on service planning.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Social Work; registration or eligibility with BCCSW preferred.
• Minimum three years experience in child protection, delegated services or family services, including C6 Delegation.
• Strong knowledge of guardianship, children‑in‑care practice and the CFCSA.
• Demonstrated ability to coach staff using trauma‑informed, strengths‑based and culturally safe supervision.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a clear Criminal Record Check, MCFD Prior Contact Check and a valid Class 5 BC driver’s licence.
