Facility Steward

About the role

The Canadian Opera Company is seeking a Facility Steward to join its Building Services Department at the Four Seasons Centre for the Performing Arts. This full‑time, on‑site role supports the Facilities team in delivering a safe and welcoming environment for patrons, guests, and staff.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor building condition, perform minor repairs, preventative maintenance and seasonal exterior work such as snow removal.
• Assist with setup and teardown of assets for performances, events and tenant activities, and coordinate deliveries and vendor access.
• Conduct building patrols, report safety issues, support fire safety inspections and emergency response.
• Maintain inventory, distribute supplies, keep facility logs and collaborate with security, housekeeping and operations teams.

Required profile

• Experience in facility maintenance, construction trades or building services with basic carpentry and repair skills.
• Physical ability to lift equipment, stand for long periods, climb ladders and work at heights, in tight spaces and dim lighting.
• Valid Social Insurance Number and legal right to work in Canada.
• Certifications: Smart Serve, Working at Heights, Elevated Work Platforms.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint, Teams).
