Facilities Team Member - On Call

About the role

Join a dedicated facilities team at a vibrant downtown church, keeping the space safe, clean, and ready for a wide range of community events. This on‑call position offers flexible evening shifts, typically 4–8 hours, and involves direct interaction with a diverse community.

Key responsibilities

• Clean and maintain the church building to a high standard.
• Set up and take down event spaces across multiple rooms, adapting quickly to changing needs and schedules.
• Support safety and security during events and respond calmly to unexpected situations.
• Ensure events run smoothly in line with booking and contract requirements.
• Provide a welcoming presence, offering guidance and assistance to guests as needed.
• Work collaboratively with staff, volunteers, and external partners such as AV, sound, security, and performers.

Required profile

• Physical capability to lift, carry, and move equipment (up to 20 kg floor‑to‑waist, 8 kg overhead, 15 kg carry, 30 kg push/pull) and navigate a multi‑level facility.
• Friendly, approachable manner with confidence working with a diverse community, including individuals experiencing homelessness.
• Strong commitment to safety and adherence to established procedures.
• Willingness to learn, adapt, and be part of a team.
• Possession of or ability to obtain a vulnerable sector police check (required).
