Facilities Manager – Operations & Maintenance

About the role

Vanier Children’s Mental Wellness is seeking a forward‑thinking Facilities Manager to lead the strategic and day‑to‑day operations of its building portfolio, grounds, and food services. The role combines oversight of maintenance, repairs, and environmental services with a strong focus on safety, customer service, and alignment with the organization’s mission.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement a comprehensive facilities management plan covering building systems, equipment, and grounds.
• Supervise unionized maintenance, cleaning, and food‑service staff, ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards.
• Manage budgets, expenditures, and contracts with external vendors and contractors.
• Coordinate building repairs, alterations, heating, cooling, and waste‑management activities.
• Collaborate with the Vanier Leadership Team to align facilities initiatives with the strategic plan.

Required profile

• Degree or diploma in engineering technology, building operations, or a related field.
• Minimum 10 years of operations/maintenance management experience in a commercial, industrial, or healthcare environment.
• Proven experience supervising technical staff in a unionized setting.
• Strong knowledge of building codes, occupational health and safety legislation, and fire regulations.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills and sound judgment.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office 360 (Word, Excel, Outlook).
