Experienced Mechanical Designer – Manufacturing

About the role

We are looking for an experienced, innovative Designer to join HERD’s Engineering Team in Winnipeg. You will design and develop reliable, cost‑effective products while supporting efficient manufacturing processes.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop new products from concept through production using CAD software.
• Create detailed drawings, 3D models, specifications and technical documentation.
• Evaluate designs for manufacturability, performance, reliability and cost‑effectiveness.
• Develop prototypes, support testing and implement design improvements.
• Collaborate with R&D, Production, Sales, Marketing, Quality and Supply Chain throughout product development.
• Participate in design reviews and present concepts and updates to stakeholders.
• Work with suppliers to select materials, components and manufacturing processes.
• Maintain accurate engineering documentation and manage project timelines.

Required profile

• 3+ years of product design experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Diploma or degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology, Industrial Design, Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and Design for Manufacturability principles.
• Experience with prototype development, product testing and design validation.
• Excellent analytical, problem‑solving and project management abilities.
• Effective communication and collaboration skills across departments.
