Executive Director – Self‑Government Negotiations Secretariat

About the role

The Executive Director will lead the K’ahsho Got’ine Self‑Government Negotiations Secretariat (KGSGNS) in Fort Good Hope, guiding the team that negotiates a Self‑Government Agreement with Canada and the GNWT on behalf of the K’ahsho Got’ine community.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic direction and day‑to‑day leadership for the Secretariat and its staff.
• Work closely with the KGSGNS Board, preparing agendas, minutes and supporting governance processes.
• Develop and implement annual and long‑term budgets, work plans and performance metrics.
• Identify and pursue funding opportunities, draft proposals and maintain stakeholder relationships.
• Coordinate with local, regional and national partners to set priorities and advance negotiation objectives.
• Oversee general office operations, human‑resource functions and compliance with relevant policies.

Required profile

• Extensive experience living and working with northern Indigenous organisations and communities.
• Proven track record managing small organisations and staff, preferably in a senior leadership role.
• Experience serving on or supporting a Board of Directors.
• Strong understanding of self‑government negotiations, Indigenous law and related land‑claim agreements (asset).
