Executive Director – Foundation Leadership

About the role

The Connor, Clark & Lunn Foundation is seeking an Executive Director to lead its newly created leadership function. Reporting directly to the Board, you will be the sole dedicated employee responsible for advancing the Foundation’s governance, operational excellence, and grantmaking impact across Canada.

Key responsibilities

• Implement the Foundation’s new governance framework and strategic recommendations approved by the Board.
• Oversee all operational activities, including financial coordination, administrative support, and internal resource allocation.
• Develop and maintain operational processes, policies, and reporting frameworks to support effective governance and granting.
• Prepare annual operating budgets, financial reports, and ensure compliance with CRA regulations, receipting, record‑keeping, and statutory obligations.
• Serve as the primary liaison to the Board, coordinating meetings, preparing agendas, minutes, and follow‑up actions.
• Support the Applications Committee in reviewing grant applications, establishing transparent criteria, and tracking funding decisions.
• Maintain risk‑management frameworks and assist the Board in policy development, committee structures, and investment policy.

Required profile

• Collaborative, purpose‑driven leader with experience in nonprofit or foundation governance.
• Strong understanding of charitable giving, grant administration, and compliance requirements in Canada.
• Proven ability to manage budgets, financial reporting, and operational processes.
• Excellent communication skills to engage board members, employees, and external partners.
