Executive Director – Business Association

About the role

The Uptown Rutland Business Association (URBA) seeks an Executive Director to lead its mission of creating a clean, safe, vibrant, and economically thriving business district in the Rutland neighbourhood of Kelowna. Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director will act as the public voice of URBA, championing the interests of over 220 member businesses.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership and day‑to‑day management of a small team of four staff members.
• Advocate for the business community and build collaborative relationships with municipal officials, partners, sponsors, and other stakeholders.
• Develop and implement revenue‑generation strategies, including grants, sponsorships, service contracts, and event profits.
• Oversee budgeting, financial reporting, and the allocation of levies collected by the City of Kelowna.
• Ensure effective governance, board communication, and compliance with non‑profit regulations.
• Maintain a remote work arrangement while delivering regular in‑person presence in the Rutland area.

Required profile

• Minimum five years of progressive leadership experience in strategic planning, organizational development, community engagement, or revenue generation.
• Strong interpersonal abilities to advocate, negotiate, and solve problems in a multi‑stakeholder environment.
• Demonstrated commitment to fostering economic growth and vibrancy in a local business district.
• Residency or deep knowledge of the Rutland community is an asset.

Required skills

What we offer

• 0.8 FTE position (Monday‑Friday) with flexible early‑morning, evening, and weekend requirements.
• Annual salary between $70,000 – $80,000 CAD (pro‑rated for 0.8 FTE).
