Environmental Technician V (Union Position)

About the role

Parsons is seeking a CBA‑Environmental Technician V to support environmental compliance monitoring and investigations for the Faro Mine Remediation Project in Yukon. The position reports to the Environmental Manager and operates on a 2‑week on / 2‑week off rotation, 10 hours per day.

Key responsibilities

• Collect water and soil samples, conduct water‑quality and geotechnical monitoring, and perform construction inspections.
• Manage waste, monitor air quality, respond to spills, and ensure QA/QC of field work and documentation.
• Compile environmental and geotechnical reports, lead yellow‑alert investigations, and maintain trackers for daily planning.
• Serve as primary field contact, review contractor documents, attend weekly contractor meetings, and update SOPs.
• Utilize EQuIS for data management and generate reports for the Environmental Manager.

Required profile

• Post‑secondary degree or technologist diploma in environmental science, engineering, earth sciences, biology, geotechnical engineering, forestry, hydrogeology or related field.
• Experience working on remote mine sites and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills and a solid health‑and‑safety mindset.
• Valid Class 5 driver’s licence; ability to lift up to 20 kg and operate ATVs, snowmobiles and power boats.
