About the role
The Canadian Press is seeking an experienced Entertainment Reporter‑Editor to join its Arts‑Life bureau in Toronto. You will cover pop‑culture, music, film, and television, delivering breaking news, feature stories, and live awards coverage across multiple platforms.
Key responsibilities
- Write, edit and produce multimedia content for print, digital, broadcast and video services.
- Cover breaking news such as awards shows and major announcements with speed and accuracy.
- Monitor news outlets, social media and maintain a network of contacts in the Canadian arts scene.
- Pitch daily news briefs, feature ideas and video opportunities.
- Develop in‑depth profiles and issue‑oriented features that engage readers.
- Balance feature writing with tight‑deadline news reporting.
Required profile
- Minimum five years of newsroom experience.
- Proven ability to report and edit independently across video, broadcast, print and online platforms.
- Strong news judgment, commitment to accuracy and fairness.
- Self‑starter who works well both independently and within a team.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to work under tight deadlines, including occasional shift work and travel.
