English Teacher (0.5 FTE, Full Year, Mornings)

About the role

The Durham District School Board is seeking a permanent English teacher to join its secondary schools on a 0.5 FTE basis. The position runs the full academic year, with teaching duties limited to morning periods, and serves Grades 9 and 10. This role offers the opportunity to create a supportive, inclusive classroom where students develop strong literacy skills.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, deliver and assess engaging English language lessons that meet the Ontario curriculum standards.
• Monitor student progress, provide constructive feedback and adapt instruction to diverse learning needs.
• Maintain a positive, inclusive classroom environment that respects Indigenous cultures and promotes equity.
• Collaborate with colleagues, parents and community partners to enhance student learning.
• Complete required administrative tasks, including record‑keeping and reporting.

Required profile

• Ontario teaching certificate (OCT) in good standing.
• Qualified to teach English at the secondary level (Grades 9‑10).
• Willingness to work a 0.5 FTE schedule, full year, mornings only.
• Commitment to equity, inclusion and Indigenous reconciliation.
